Hi,
We are experiencing occasional difficulty with retrieving data that is
stored on the DDS tapes. We use an Aspect station and uxnmr software to
retrieve and work up data. Not all the data is corrupt but more often
than not some of the files have problems. In addition to bad data , the
Aspect computer usually crashes and core dumps when trying to get the
files. The drive has been replaced but the problem still persists. I am
not sure if the problem is with the tapes or if it is a problem with the
TAR software command. Sending the tapes out for data recovery is
expensive and not always a sure thing which leaves running the
experiments again. Is there a possibility of accessing the tape drive
from our O2 SGI using a remote tar command? Thanks.
Jim
