Dear fellow AMMRL members:

Since I took over the AMMRL email list duties in 1997 from Rudi Nunlist, it
has been my privilege to serve you in the capacity of keeping our email
flowing, and to maintain the archives on the web. That Rudi still deserves
tremendous credit for getting all of this started should go without saying
(but I'm saying it anyway).

For a variety of reasons, I have decided that it is time to hand this
responsibility off to someone new. Walt Niemczura has graciously
volunteered to take over this responsibility. Walt has been an invaluable
member of the membership "junta" for many years, so his willingness to
amplify his role in the AMMRL speaks volumes about his value and commitment
to our small community. Walt is currently working with Rainer Haessner to
effect the switchover, and the details of redirecting the "ammrl.org" domain
to Walt's server in Hawaii. I will let Walt communicate any instructions
about changes in procedure as he sees fit, after the email no longer points
to my server at "colorado.edu".

Keeping everything running smoothly for over a decade on my home-built, and
re-built, and re-built-again server, while trying to keep up with the crazy
changes in the internet world, has been challenging and sometimes very
taxing; however, the reward of serving all of you has far outweighed the
negatives. I'll continue to assist and support Walt as a member of his
"junta", and I hope everyone out there will give Walt your full support in
his efforts.

Let me thank the Steering Committee (Rainer Haessner, Shaw Huang, Vera
Mainz, Steve McKenna, Rudi Nunlist, Karen Ann Smith, Bill Stevens, & Jane
Strouse) for their unwavering support. Also the Membership Junta, including
current the current junta: Walt Niemczura, Letitia Yao, Jeff Simpson, and
former junta members: Dee Huang, & Ron Federspiel, and anyone I've
forgotten.

I'll look forward to seeing many of you at Asilomar.

Best regards,

-Rich Shoemaker
