AMMRL: Position announcement for NMR spectroscopist at the NMRFAM at the University of Wisconsin

The National Magnetic Resonance Facility at Madison (NMRFAM) located
at the University of Wisconsin-Madison encourages qualified
individuals to apply for the position of NMR spectroscopist.

Degree and area of specialization:
PhD in a relevant scientific field, such as Chemistry, Biophysics,
Biochemistry, or Physics is required

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
The ideal candidate will have had five or more years of demonstrated
innovation and productivity in biomolecular NMR spectroscopy.
Preference will be given to persons with expertise in one or more of
the core research areas of the National Magnetic Resonance Facility at
Madison NMRFAM) : (1) automation in NMR
data collection, analysis and structure determination, (2) approaches
for larger proteins and complexes (protein-protein, protein-nucleic
acid, membrane proteins), (3) NMR and quantum chemical investigations
of iron-sulfur proteins, (4) large RNAs and RNPs, and (5)
metabolomics. Extensive experience with computational aspects of NMR
spectroscopy and spectrometer operation and testing preferred.
Problem-solving ability in the execution of the above expertise areas
required. Ability to work as a team member along with written and
spoken presentation skills required.

Principal duties:
In addition to carrying out and publishing research in one or more of
the areas listed above, this position will have the responsibility for
developing and fostering high-value collaborations that drive and are
driven by this technology development. The position will be expected
to participate in NMRFAM's training program, including yearly
workshops. Supervision of junior staff members will be required.

Supervisory duties: This position involves supervising one or more
research assistants or research associates.

This position reports to the Director and Head of NMRFAM.

A period of evaluation will be required
