billing from system logs

Greetings, undercompensated NMR lab managers everywhere: for a long time,
I have been compiling our monthly user charges from the output of the
Unix/ Linux "last" command imported into a spreadsheet and sorted by user.
This tracks elapsed time on a login session to the minute and works well
for that purpose. However I am considering running TopSpin under Windows
on some open access machines, not because I am unhappy with Red Hat (in
fact, I'm very happy with it), but because it would be more familiar to
more of the users. Is anyone extracting billing information from a
Windows generated log? I have looked at the security log option and not
found it to be quite what I had in mind. I am familiar with the Icon-NMR
logging capabilities, but we do not use Icon-NMR exclusively. Thanks for
any advice, Dave Vander Velde, University of Kansas
