salary data almost ready

I was sick today with a headcold and have spent 8 hours entering salary
data into Excel working at home. The salary average is about what I
expected - about $67K with $19K std dev. Lots of responses, so the data set
is valid, I think.

I'm sorry, but the data is no help outside US academic institutions, so
that will be all that is analyzed. I will post at http://labmanagers.com as
soon as I find my Excel instructions.

What do you think about my putting the raw data into one other hand in case
something happens to me? Also, this would give me the option of citing the
data to improve my own salary (less than the mean and I think I deserve at
least the mean).

Let me know what you think by sending me email with subject line "salaryguy
no" or "salaryguy yes" or, if yes, "salaryguy <your choice of backup
salaryguy>". Salaryguy does not have to be a guy. Salaryguy would have to
agree to the standards of confidentiality I have practiced. I will not do
it if there is significant objection. Backup Salaryguy would be expected to
analyze and present the data independently of me. A close match would add
credibility to the survey.

Right now, I am thinking of one of us whom is not on the Steering
Committee, whom has not served on the junta, but whom I would trust. I
would say "salaryguy Bill Kearney" if I were responding.

Think carefully before responding and I will wait until I have enough input
before I put it to a vote. Feel free to self-nominate.

Bill
