Dear Spinmeisters,
I am looking for ideas to improve the reliability of my usage logs on
one varian and one bruker (sun and sgi) systems. For a host of reasons I
use one generic user account for data on my systems, with users writing
to their own folders.
I wonder if there are available keyboard lock systems that you could
unlock say with a student ID card. This could be fairly primitive,
(just recording who swiped in/out) or a security oriented system,
checking against a DB. All in all I would rather not involve the unix
logging system, but this may be inevitable.
The need here is driven by a lack of attention to logging in and out of
my paper logs and by atrocious penmanship. This may possibly be a
problem at other departments than just Temple.
My apologies if this has been worked over extensively in the past, but
experiences and hardware recommendations would be welcomed.
Kind regards
Charlie
