NMR Facility Manager and Associate NMR Facility Manager Positions:
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of
Colorado at Boulder is seeking two highly qualified individuals to
assist in the management and operation of the NMR Spectroscopy
Facilities on the Boulder and Denver campuses.
The successful candidates will have primary responsibility for oversight
and maintenance of high-field biomolecular NMR instrumentation. These
highly qualified individuals will assist in user training,
implementation of the latest biomolecular NMR pulse-sequences,
instrument troubleshooting and maintenance, and regular performance
evaluations and calibrations to ensure that the spectrometers are
operating at peak performance levels. The successful candidates will
work closely with research faculty to become a key part of a team
dedicated to providing superior NMR research capability. Excellent
communication skills, a positive work ethic, and a commitment to service
are essential for success in this position. The candidates will be
expected to have an advanced working knowledge of modern NMR
instrumentation, both at a hardware and software level. Experience
with pulse-sequence programming, especially in the area of biomolecular
applications, knowledge of UNIX system administration, and network
administration would all be valuable for this position. Candidates
should have a Ph.D. in the area of modern NMR spectroscopy, or a Masters
Degree with extensive experience in the areas pertinent to the position.
The first position is a full-time NMR Facility Manager position. This
Facility Manager will be primarily responsible for a regional 900 MHz
NMR facility to be located at the Fitzsimmons Campus of the University
of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver.
The second position is for an Associate NMR Facility Manager position at
the Boulder campus. Current instrumentation includes two 500 MHz
spectrometers, one 600 MHz spectrometer and an 800 MHz spectrometer
scheduled for installation in mid-2004. The 800 MHz instrument will be
shared by a consortium of biomolecular researchers from Boulder, Denver
and the University of Utah. The associate facility manager will work
with the existing facility manager to assume primary responsibility for
the biomolecular research applications.
The University of Colorado is committed to diversity and equality in
education and employment.
