Dear AMMRLs and varnet'ers:
We suddenly are having problems with VT control on our
Unity-500. The symptoms are similar to an email thread that
I remember, but cannot now find (maybe it was on varnet?), so
I'm hoping some of you can help. Sorry for the duplicate
posting to both lists.
Description: We run cold for a while (few hours). After
the acquisition, the temperature will not change. Playing
around with connector at the probe seems to clear the
problem so the temp can be changed, but it often takes a
LOT of playing (and maybe trying other things, like
rebooting the Sun or the console hardware). Replacing the
complete connector set on probe and cable has not helped;
the heater wire shows no problems with continuity.
We have never had this problem until recently, with heavy
VT use on the instrument over many years. No changes in
hardware or software have happened within the last four/five
months. Running an Oxford controller (~4 years old), and
VNMR 5.3b.
Any help/suggestions will be most appreciated!
