I was asked to give a little introduction since I am new to the group. My
name is Patrick Hays and I work for the DEA Special Testing and Research
Laboratory. I am the NMR spectroscopist. My primary work is in structural
elucidation of unknowns and synthesized compounds, and authentication of
reference drug standards. Most compounds are organic and molecular weight
below 600. I am the only operator at this lab of a Varian Unity 500. I
perform almost all my work using a 5mm indirect detection probe. Most work is
using 1D proton and carbon, DQFCOSY, NOESY, HMQC, and HMBC. We have just
installed a waveform generator and I am trying to find information on
experiments I can perform with it. I have been with DEA 12 years, 7 in the
field of NMR and 9 authenticating drug standards. I have a BS Chemistry from
University of Washington, Seattle.
Our lab is about to undergo recertification and I am trying to come up with
validation procedures and methods for NMR quantitation. Has anyone had
experience with this and can give me some ideas or literature to work from?
Happy holidays everyone,
Patrick Hays
