To create such a file is easy -- you may never sign any guestbook on the
net but this can be done by a guestbook script on the web. The problem is
to sort and maintain the records collected, and this can be done by CGI
too. In this scheme, updating information can be a problem.

Just in case some of you never tried a guestbook before, you can visit my
URL and view the one I have there.
