We have managed to get a local search engine running on our web server, =
and it seems to work pretty well.
If you visit the web-archives at the Nebraska AMMRL site: =
http://www.chem.unl.edu/ammrl/ , you will see the
search box. I'm using the WebGlimpse package from the University of =
Arizona. I tried a few test-searches with pretty good success. You can =
combine keywords and phrases with semi-colons to "AND" or commas to =
"OR", so it's pretty easy to narrow the search.
For example, if you want to find previous messages about stray fields, =
you can enter: stray;fields
Or if you want to see what has been said about putting Zip drives on =
SGIs, search with: Zip Drives;SGI
I've found that mixing " ; " and " , " the wrong way can generate error =
messages, but it's not hard to find what you want.
Thus far, I can only search my local archives (since August '97), but I =
hope to figure out a way to include the older traffic archived at Rudi's =
site.=20
I hope you all find this a helpful addition to the AMMRL service.
