Director of NMR Services

Triclinic Labs, Inc., the leading fee-for-service solid-state chemical research and development laboratory, is seeking a Director of NMR Services. The primary responsibilities of this role will be obtaining, interpreting, and reporting solution phase and solid-state NMR and other spectroscopic data for projects, consulting with existing and potential clients, maintaining NMR instruments and instrument vendor relationships, identifying and implementing novel NMR-based technologies, and training/mentoring other scientists in the analytical chemistry group on the use of NMR as an interrogative technique. Additional responsibilities may include mentoring or supervising junior-level staff, participating in national and international scientific meetings, and providing scientific reports that support the generation of publications, patents, or regulatory submissions.

In this role you will

•Maintain, troubleshoot, calibrate, and acquire data on NMR spectrometers in a cGMP environment
•Interpret and report scientific data clearly and concisely
•Solve complex chemical and structural characterization problems with NMR and other analytical techniques. Interpretation including 2D NMR and heteronuclear NMR
•Develop and validate analytical test methods according to project requirements, laboratory instrument capabilities, and regulatory specifications and guidelines
•Comply with all cGMP laboratory SOPs and company policies and procedures
•Collaborate with other scientists on large multidisciplinary projects
•Meet established timelines, budgets, and scientific goals for client projects.

Job Requirements

•Ph.D. or MS degree in Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific field with >5 years of experience in industry or service environments
•Knowledge of and experience working in a cGMP or GLP laboratory
•Direct experience with Bruker high field strength NMR spectrometers, TopSpin software, Bruker solids and liquid probes, Doty solid probes and other spectroscopic instrumentation
•Experience with NMR pulse sequence design and programming
•Experience with multinuclear, multidimensional NMR spectroscopy to solve structures
•Experience with acquisition and interpretation of orthogonal analytical data
•Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
•Experience with advanced NMR data analysis, and MDS software such as XPLOR-NIH, CNSsolve, SPARKY, ATNOS/CANDID, NMRViewJ, CARA, Mnova etc.
•Experience with Linux OS, VBA, R, and other computer operating, statistical, and programming languages
•Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other statistical/scientific software packages (e.g. UNSCRAMBLER)
•Self-motivation and independence to coordinate and complete multiple concurrent internal and external projects.

Individuals with the following skills will be given preference:

•Method development and cGMP validation experience
•Characterization of solid materials using XRPD, TGA, DSC, DVS, Raman, IR, and other techniques
•Established scientific reputation in the field of NMR Spectroscopy as evidenced by external publication and presentations
•Demonstrated ability to recruit, lead and motivate a team of scientists, and to be actively engaged in their career development
•Strong working knowledge of drug discovery and the development of small molecule therapeutics
