AMMRL: Alex Bain

Hello everyone,

It is with deepest sadness that I relate the news that Alex Bain has
passed away.
Alex died peacefully in his sleep on December 28 following a good family
Christmas celebration.

Earlier this month we held a special symposium honouring Alex. Despite
the very short notice, the symposium was very well attended. Each
speaker provided retrospectives of the many important contributions he
made to their own research programs. Alex quite enjoyed the symposium
and having a chance to see everyone.

Alex was a mentor and a friend, and he will be sorely missed.

Funeral arrangements have yet to be finalized.
