Hi all,

We have an old Varian MercuryPlus 300 magnet (unshielded magnet) and
considering a magnet decommission. The problem is that we don't have the
charging&shorting rod. So we have to do either (1) let the cryogen dry and
magnet quench itself or (2) provoke the quenching of magnet.

I personally prefer (2) provoke method. I read through the previous posts
in AMMRL and got some tips on this procedure:
1> Remove probe, shim stack
2> Keep the exit ports closed
3> Spoil the vacuum by opening the vacuum port

Any suggestion on this procedure? Did I miss anything? I would really
appreciate any input from AMMRL community.

PS: If anyone is interested in this magnet, please let me know and we can
talk more about de-commission&shipping.
Thanks.

Lingchao
