AMMRL members;
A summary of suggestions about the meeting:
But first: It is not possible to have any AMMRL meeting, formal or
informal, during the day. ENC does not allow any other meetings during
the sessions. Of course, individuals can arrange to meet other
individuals, but no official gatherings. So, to those that suggested
alternate time/places for meeting, sorry, no can do.
No one emailed to say that there should not be a meeting. One person
voted for formal presentations only, but most responders wanted both
formal and small or small only.
I have combined suggestions into groups/topics that make sense:
Suggestions for formal presentations (most could also be discussion):
1) siting high field magnets and high field installation
2) data transfer off spectrometers to network drives and
off spectrometer processing software
3) prolonging the life of consoles (both very old and those 8-10 years old)
4) A combination of some of these under the general theme of
"maintaining a NMR facility while maintaining some sanity"
this could include sections on:
maintenance
console upkeep
scheduling
data management
off spectrometer processing
Suggestions for discussion groups:
data management on a budget
high throughput on a budget
microcoils
cryoprobes
automation
new nmr techniques
gradient shimming
maintenance
varian vt
tricks, pros and cons
outside money sources
Usually, we have no more than 6 small groups. So, we will need to pick
those topics with the most interest.
Formal presentations require presenters. Item 4 could be presented by
someone willing to request ideas and suggestions off-line and present a
summary.
on behalf of the AMMRL steering committee;
