Here at Western Washington University
we will be fortunate enough to have
a Varian INOVA 500 MHz system installed this coming June.
This new system will be housed in the same room
as our recently upgraded Varian MercuryPlus 300MHz system.
We are looking into hiring an NMR manager, so I would
like to query those that manage 2 NMR systems.
(Actually any comments would be very welcome)
The questions we have:
1. How much time, based upon the usual 40 hour work week,
would the NMR manager need to devote to the running/operation
of the 2 systems.
2. What should the NMR manager have as far as qualifications.
3. What pay range should the NMR manager have.
4. If the answer to #1 is less than 40 hrs/wk, what other duties
would be compatible for the NMR manager,
for example, teaching organic lab sections, maintenance of GCMS, etc.
The current thought in the dept is that the NMR manager would
be teaching 6-12 hrs of lab in addition to the NMR duties.
