Ultra 5/UnityPlus combination

Dear Colleagues,

Is anyone out there using a Sun Ultra 5 with a UnityPlus machine?
We are having problems making an older Sparc 5 talk to the diff box
in a reliable manner - we get intermittent VNMR shell faults of the
form

> Warning: select failed; error code 9

which no-one at Sun seems to be able to explain (any clues?). In the
background we have an Ultra 5 (PCI bus based) for which we would have to
purchase a SCSI adaptor card in order to interface with the
spectrometer. Word has it that such SCSI-3 based devices are too fast(?)
to work properly with the older technology diff boxes. I find it hard to
belive that no-one has upgraded before to an Ultra 5 (or second SCSI-3
second SCSI SBUS card) with a UnityPlus?

Any help would be appreciated.
Apologies for cross-posting.

Cheers,
Paul
