AMMRL: Lab Tech

AMMRLers,

We are currently considering hiring a lab tech. This person would work
in NMR, Mass Spec, and X-ray under the direction of the current facility
  directors. I've been asked to gather info on typical salary and
qualifications. We are thinking of someone with a master's degree, but
nothing has been decided yet (so don't send me resumes). So, United
States academics, if you have a second-line person, what are salary,
qualifications, and duties?
