Dear all,

I would greatly appreciate any help with a reference or an explanation for the unsymmetrical splitting of the H-4 signal in 4-fluoropiperidine derivatives. One would expect a dtt coupling pattern as a consequence of a geminal H-F, and two vicinal H-H couplings. If the vicinal coupling constants are assumed to be similar, one would expect a "doublet of a quintet" appearance of the signal. The measured signal appears unsymmetrical, though. A jpg file of the partial spectrum, processed with lb= -1.4 and gb= 1.0, can be accessed at:

In the literature I checked so far, the authors designate this kind of subspectra as " multiplet from.. to...".

Thank you in advance.
