Job Description Overview:
Candidate will be responsible for providing advanced problem solving using NMR techniques. The candidate will be expected to work as part of a cross-functional team in partnership with Dow R&D personnel in variety of technology areas including polymer science and materials science.
The position involves the characterization of a diverse mix of organic molecules and polymers using 1D and 2D Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy in collaboration with other spectroscopists in infrared, and mass spectrometry. Most of these activities are performed in conjunction with a global team of experts in a synthesis or business group along with analytical experts in the fields of MS, IR and NMR.
For this position we are seeking candidates who are strong in NMR Spectroscopy and Molecular Structure Characterization. Candidates should have significant Polymer Science, Materials Science, and Organic Chemistry understanding and excellent problem solving skills.
The candidate is expected to establish and deliver long-term technical leadership in the area of NMR Spectroscopy for the global Analytical Sciences organization.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, or Materials Science with demonstrated advanced NMR skills is required.
Experience and expertise in one or more of the following is highly valued: catalyst chemistry, materials science, polymer science. Candidates must have strong materials characterization and analytical problem solving skills.
