The Lilly Development Centre in Mont-St-Guibert, Belgium, is seeking to
recruit a Research Associate for its Biomedical NMR Laboratory. The
Biomedical NMR Laboratory provides analytical support in the field of
NMR-based metabonomics and drug metabolite structure elucidation within
the Department of Toxicology and Drug Disposition. The laboratory is
equipped with a state-of-the-art 600 MHz NMR spectrometer with a variety
of accessories.
Function
You will be responsible for conducting 1D and 2D NMR experiments of
biological samples (biofluids, tissues and isolated drug metabolites) and
basic data analysis. Your tasks will include sample preparation, operation
and maintenance of the spectrometer and associated equipment, including
LC-NMR, data processing, structure elucidation and basic statistical
analysis of the data. You will be offered extensive training in the field
of NMR spectroscopy and data analysis.
Profile
BSc or Industrial Engineer degree in chemistry or equivalent, EU citizen.
A thorough knowledge of NMR spectroscopy, interpretation of NMR spectra
and separation techniques (HPLC) is essential and previous experience in
handling of biological samples or in multivariate data analysis is an
asset. You are familiar with common computer systems (Windows, LINUX) and
enjoy making frequent use of computers for data processing and analysis.
This position requires a good team player, with strong communication
skills. Highly motivated, you are interested in learning and in expanding
your expertise. Entry level scientists are encouraged to apply.
A good knowledge of spoken and written English is essential.
This is initially a 1 year contract.
