The next meeting for the Southern California Users of Magnets (SCUM) will be on
Saturday, October 21st, 2000, at The Scripps Research Institute, where we will
be hosted by Dr. Dee-Hua Huang.
The exact schedule has not yet been determined, but two speakers are already in
place:

Dr. Barbara Potts, of Pfizer (once Agouron):
LC-NMR in Drug Metabolism and Toxicology
Those interested in participating either as a speaker or as an attendee, should
contact myself (pwheeler_at_isisph.com), or other members of the steering
committee, Jane Strouse (strousej_at_chem.ucla.edu) and Paul Shin
(nmrguy_at_mindspring.com). Topics discussed focus on nuclear magnetic resonance
in its various common applications & theory: biomolecular structure & dynamics,
solids, materials science, small-molecule structure determination, data
processing, and pulse-sequence development. Guest speakers are considered in
related topics, such as EPR or applications in physics. We will be providing a
special session for graduate student speakers at this meeting. This is an
excellent opportunity for presentations to an inquisitive, knowledgeable
audience in a local/regional setting. There is no fee for participation.
