If you have any "old" PCs around, which still have 1.2MB 5.25" floppy
drives, you should be able to get a copy of Steve Silber's "vhelper"
program. We used this program on PCs at Nebraska for years to process data
from the old VM02-based VXR-200. Vhelper will read the Varian-formatted
floppies, and convert the data to several formats, including PCnmr, Nuts,
and others.

This is something that everyone who has old Varian floppy archives should
have available. This is, in my opinion, a very ingienous program; however,
I don't know for sure if Steve is still distributing it.

Contact Steve directly at s-silber_at_tamu.edu

  Subject: 5.25 in. floppies
  To the old timers,
I have a student who has several 5.25 in. floppies with NMR data from our
old Varian system. We retired this system some time ago and can no longer
read these media. Can anyone help this poor student trying to write his
thesis? We do still have a streaming tape drive that I think will work on a
Sun if someone can transfer the data to that medium.
  Thanks,
  Charlie
