I have read a couple of letters about compressing your own air. Please be
aware that compressors send air and water down the lines and that you need to
remove these and any particulates. When our Unity 500 was installed we
hooked up a Balston FTIR air purifier to our very old, very oily, very dirty,
very wet, house air. It does a superb job BUT the specs for the purifier
call for 100+ psi into the purifier for highest efficiency. When it was
first installed the air pressure was 70-80 and the second stage filter showed
some debris carryover from the first stage. Now we are up to 90-100 psi and
the second stage is very clean. So, please keep this in mind when doing this
type of hookup; check the specs on the air purifier first before buying it
and note the normal operatiing pressure of the compressor.
