The DuPont Merck Pharmaceutical Company is looking of an NMR
spectroscopist to join its Discovery Chemistry Department. Qualified
candidates must possess a M.S. degree (or equivalent) in analytical or
organic chemistry, have a minimum of 2 years experience in NMR
spectroscopy, have a strong background in organic chemistry, and be
familiar with NMR techniques used to study small molecules.
Previous experience with Varian NMR spectrometers is preferred, but not
required. A proficient knowledge of the UNIX operating system is
essential, and experience in UNIX systems administration is a plus.
Responsibilities of the position include maintaining routine NMR
spectrometers, working directly with discovery and development chemists
in applying NMR to solve structure problems, and collaborating with other
analytical groups in order solve structure problems. The Discovery
Chemistry group at DuPont Merck has four 300 MHz routine NMRs, two 400
MHz and one 500 MHz NMRs for non-routine use and a 200 MHz system for
solid state NMR.
