Hi All,
We are in the initial phases of transferring to an actual university-wide facility rather than one housed-in and supported-by Chemistry. This has led to many questions and I foresee a few logistical nightmares coming my way. Anyone willing, please share whatever details you can about the logistics of your facility (for example: housed within a department, faculty and staff salaries are part of that department, billing is handled by, etc.). For clarification, at the moment I am a 12-month faculty member in the Chemistry department and the instruments are fully supported by the main budget of the department (there are no charges for users associated with the university, I only bill outside industrial clients, the department pays for all cryogens and any repairs I can't handle myself). Any details anyone is willing to share would be much appreciated.
As part of this transition I am also moving all three magnets into a centralized lab space I have to redesign as appropriate. I am in for one heck of year.
Thank you,
David
