NMR Friends,
There is a report being assembled by a committee led by some hardy souls from APS, ACS, and MRS to discuss the issues we've all been facing with liquid He supplies and prices. Fortunately, they are trying to help us all out, and this report will simply shed light on the situation with respect to the helium reserves (in Texas).
I have another data request from the AMMRL community to simply come up with a number that can be cited in the report:
Can you share with me the # of PI-level users at each of your institutions who use NMR? (How you define a PI is up to you, and it can include people who lead research groups, who are a group unto themselves, etc.) If you are a national lab or at an industrial site-I realize this may be difficult to quantify.
What they are trying to get at is the *impact if LHE supply were to be cut off *. (There is no threat to the current supply-this is simply to demonstrate the # of scientists/engineers for whom supply and price fluctuations have an effect.)
(Also, please know that actual resource economists (academic professors of Econ) are interested now in studying this issue. This is an attempt to get information out to the broadest # of major LHE users, as well.)
