NMR Specialist – Michigan State University – Michigan, USA
 
The Department of Chemistry (http://www.chemistry.msu.edu/) at Michigan State University seeks outstanding candidates for an NMR Specialist Position in the Max T. Rogers NMR Facility. The NMR Specialist has the following responsibilities: to direct and assist in the operation, maintenance, and applications support for the facility’s spectrometers, currently consisting of 13 Varian/Agilent spectrometers: four Inova 300 MHz; three InfinityPlus 400 MHz Solid-state; Inova 500 & 600 MHz; two DirectDrive2 500 MHz instruments and a Bruker Avance 900.
 
Further duties include assisting the director in day-to-day operations of the facility including cryogen fills, working with facility users to setup and run solid-state NMR experiments, serving as point of contact for NMR issues and reservations, and keeping abreast of latest advances in NMR spectroscopy.
 
Position is 100% time, annual year (12 months), non-union, and in the academic staff continuing system.
 
Salary Commensurate with Experience.
 
Degree Requirements: Doctorate.
 
Minimum Qualifications: A PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, or related field is required.
 
Desired Qualifications: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Experience with Bruker, Agilent, Varian, and Chemagnetics systems, as well as a background in solid-state NMR and operation of ultrahigh field NMR systems is desirable.
