Hi all,

My apologize. I did mean 400 psi, not 400 atm. So the group needs
about 30 atm. This obviously makes things potentially more realizable
in glass.

Hi all, I've got a group here needing to run high pressure -- e.g., 400
atm -- experiments, and they're wanting to do them using thick-walled
glass. They claim such experiments are being done in at least one other
laboratory successfully. The idea is to construct the tube and test it
at pressure prior to introducing the tubes to the spectrometer. I'm
pretty uncertain about this: I've given definite NOs to such suggestions
(of anything over 10 atm) in the past, but this is one involves a
faculty member that I respect. So I'm hoping the AMMRL group can provide
additional feedback. We are, by the way, definitely aware of sapphire
tubes. Charlie
