AMMRL: vnmrj installation RedHat linux

Hello everyone,

recently our linux computer had to be formatted due to a hacker.

We use a Dell 380 computer running RedHat with vnmrj1.1D.

I installed the RedHat and to install the vnmrj1.1D, I need to follow the bug fix: installation.j2101. I copy all the CD files into a folder on root, then modify the code/checkspace file as necessary. Then I do the ./load.nmr.

The vnmrj install window opens and the install starts, but the messages given by the installation are:
"tar: error was not recovable - exiting now: permission denied"

It does this to all tar files and obviously installation fails.
I can install this on a user account, but vnmrj requires the root to do this.

Last time I had to do this procedure I did not have a problem and it worked... maybe it is just not my day ;-))

Has anyone else seen this happen before?

I appreciate it.

Leila
