Job Overview:
The Dow Chemical Company has an opening for a PhD Level spectroscopy
specialist in its Analytical Sciences Laboratory located in Terneuzen,
the Netherlands. The primary focus of the job will be in chemicals and
polymer characterization in collaboration with process research and
technical development groups in Europe. Apart from a theoretical and
practical knowledge of NMR spectroscopy, a strong background and
interest in organic, polymer and analytical chemistry is required. Next
to this, the job will also require broad problem-solving capabilities
through the use of other analytical techniques. Projects will be both in
R&D and manufacturing environments. This role has a strong "hands-on"
component. The applicant will need to be capable of managing multiple
projects in parallel. Local and global team work with research
colleagues is an important part of the job.
Requirements:
* A PhD level in (applied) chemistry with a strong background and
passion in Molecular Spectroscopy (NMR, MS, FTIR).
* A strong interest in organic, polymer and analytical chemistry.
* Passionate about industrial chemistry and problem solving.
* Specialization in NMR with at least 2-3 years of practical
experience.
* Passionate about the application of analytical chemistry in
industrial problem-solving and project support across multiple
businesses.
* Self-driven personality and excellent interpersonal skills. The
candidate must be keen to collaborate with internal clients to deliver
effective solutions. Strong team player in local and international
teams.
* Initiative and leadership in project management.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, including
technical writing and presenting in English. Knowledge of Dutch is not
mandatory, but willingness to learn Dutch is desired.
