We are in need of 5mm Jakobsen-style rotors for our 1997 vintage
Varian CP/MAS probe (300MHz).
Varian has a few of the silicon nitride rotors in stock in their Ft.
Collins inventory but they are priced at $1,300 each! Varian recommends,
for vague reasons, against using zirconia rotors with this style probe...
apparently something to do with the stator also being made of zirconia.
Wilmad offers Jakobsen-style zirconia rotors for $500. It is claimed
that the newer grade of zirconia is much better and permits significantly
higher rotor speeds.
I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has had experience with using
zirconia rotors in the older style Varian probes.
If anyone has any of the older 5mm silicon nitride rotors that they no
longer need please let me know.
