NMR/MRI contractor position

Ann Arbor, MI.

Job Description:

Perform Repair Maintenance Calibration (RMC) on scientific
instrumentation, with the following Dimensions and Key Job Factors:

Manage workload as assigned. Function as a Team/Group member, which
includes working in a diverse, multi-tasking team environment. Provide
maintenance, repair, IQ/OQ, and calibration of NMR, MRI systems and
accessories to the component level. Provide cryogen service (helium and
nitrogen) to vertical and horizontal superconducting magnets. Provide
system and network administration on Sun Solaris (UNIX), Irix, and Linux
systems. Be proficient in the use of Microsoft products.

Responsibilities:

1. Installs and services NMR/MRI products and accessories with some
technical assistance and with minimum direct supervision.
2. Handles service-related customer relation problems and maintains
customer confidence through demonstrated technical expertise.
3. Maintains detailed records of service visits, including
technical problems encountered and parts employed to correct those
problems on cmms system.
4. Experience in the installation of superconducting magnets and
related service work including magnet set-up and cooling, NMR console
set-up, magnet energization and cryoshimming .
5. Position will require a minimum of 40 hours per week with some
overtime on an as needed basis. Prior notification of overtime will be
given.

Qualifications:

1. Typically requires an Associate's degree or B.S. in engineering
or equivalent combination of technical training, Military electronics
training and related experience.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in NMR/MRI related service and
support.
3. Proven strong electronic and mechanical aptitudes essential.
4. Proven aptitudes for using power supplies, oscilloscopes,
spectrum analyzers, High vacuum equipment, helium leak detectors and
other electrical devices
5. Strong troubleshooting skills
6. Excellent communication/customer service skills
7. Experience with cryogenics, vacuum technology, superconducting
magnets and NMR/MRI spectrometers essential.
8. Demonstrate the ability to operate and perform routine
calibrations and maintenance on NMR/MRI systems and software.
