There is a change since this ad was originally posted: I will be leaving Isis
as of May 4th, and moving to Pfizer Global Research's
La Jolla facility, starting May 14th. As such, that means the position is no
longer a direct report to me, but rather a replacement for me.
The qualifications then increase, but the description remains largely the same.
To answer the obvious question: I'm headed for Pfizer because I'm tantalized by
the opportunities there. The position at Isis is
still excellent.

NMR / Analytical Chemistry Position

The Antisense Research Division of Isis Pharmaceuticals is seeking a highly
motivated individual for a position in NMR and analytical chemistry. The
successful candidate will assume responsibility for day-to-day NMR operations in
support of the entire company, and may also be providing limited analytical
instrumentation support to chemists within the Antisense Chemistry department.
This position requires a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry or a related field.
The preferred candidate will have experience in NMR methodologies and
understanding of basic NMR fundamentals. A candidate with experience in mass
spectrometry and Varian NMR spectrometers system administration is preferred.
Experience with other
analytical methodologies, computer networking, &/or the Solaris operating system
would also be welcome. Strength is required in all areas of communication,
problem solving, data analysis, and interpersonal skills.
