AMMRL: turbo pump lifetimes

Hi, From those of you with cold probes pumped by turbo pumps, I'm trying
to get a rough idea of how long they typically run before their bearings
start to go. I've had some non-NMR folks tell me a good rule of thumb is
that you can usually get 2 years out of a turbo pump before you need a
rebuild or replacement. Usually the backing pump requires maintenance
before the turbo pump (and we've had our backing pump maintained, though
maybe not as frequently as we could). If you don't get a service contract
from your cold probe manufacturer, how do you usually deal with a failing
turbo pump? Replace, repair (yourself or third party), some other option?

Thanks in advance for all replies,

Sean
